This revised text considers the relation of biochemistry to other disciplines such as anatomy, physiology and pharmacology in the medical course. It furthers the application of biochemical concepts to the microcellular and subcellular structures of the cell and, more importantly, to the functioning of the body as a whole and disease processes. The chapter on the functions of the nucleus, mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum have been reorganized to account for the increased understanding of the roles of these organelles.
